I started my plumbing journey in 2004, learning the trade hands-on and developing a deep respect for doing the job right. Over the years, I’ve worked across multiple areas of the plumbing industry — from complex systems to in-home service — which gave me a clear understanding of how to protect homes where it matters most: the basement.

5 stars – Outstanding work from Jake and his entire team
Jake and his team (Jared, Luke, “Diddy/Daddy”) did a wonderful job on my recent basement plumbing and flood‑protection project. Jake wears many hats – CEO, estimator, communicator, and plumber – and he does all of them extremely well. His quote was detailed and clear, and he responded to what felt like a million questions from me quickly and with great patience. He addressed my doubts professionally, walked me through every step, and always took time to explain options.
What impressed me most was his attention to detail and his commitment to doing the work to code. Jake and his wife Jacqui clearly care about quality and customer satisfaction, and it shows in how they run Mechanical Flood Protection. Jake is very active on social media and it’s obvious he values his reputation – and he earns it.
Of course, he couldn’t do it without an amazing team. Everyone on site was polite, respectful, and professional. They know what they’re doing, they work well both independently and together, and they were punctual every day. They did their best to protect my property during the work; for example, Luke even cleaned dust off my walls as soon as he could.
It was also a pleasant surprise to see Jacqui, the CEO, come to the worksite. When I struggled to follow some of the technical explanations, she put things into plain language so I could truly understand. Jake also took my insurance needs seriously and worked closely with me so that the final setup would help me get better coverage and peace of mind.
Another big plus: Jake recommended a carpenter, Devon, to handle the drywall and flooring after the plumbing. Devon came the very next day, rearranged a larger project to fit me in, and agreed to restore my basement as soon as possible. That was a huge relief, because plumbers usually don’t put everything back together after they open walls and floors. I even suggested to Jake that teaming up with carpenters like this is a great way to bring basements fully back to normal.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with the work and the experience. I highly recommend Jake, Jacqui, and the whole Mechanical Flood Protection team – 5 out of 5!

Jakes' team recently installed their Sump Pump system at our house. We found the installation teams work to be very professional. They were happy to answer any questions we had. Overall we are very pleased with this new system, our basement is drier and we no longer worry about the basement flooding.

Jake and his guys are fantastic. Nothing but good things to say. I would recommend anyone pay a bit more than to get the work done by a less experienced company. I did, and Jake had to come fix their work. He has the full package, and does things right. Other companies who have done work for me cut a lot of corners and It cost me more money in the long run. We will be using Jake for all of our waterproofing needs moving forward.

From start to finish Mechanical Flood Protection was one of the most professional and expedient businesses we've worked with. They were quickly able to determine a solution to our problem and in less than a week from our initial quote we had an installation date for the sump pump we needed. Because my mom isn’t very comfortable speaking English, I communicated with Jake Allemang by text and phone before the project started. He was always responsive, patient, and clear in explaining everything to me.
When the team arrived onsite, they were extremely professional and took the time to carefully explain the issues and solutions to my mom in person, while also keeping me updated to make sure there were no communication gaps. That meant a lot to us.
They even worked over the weekend to avoid disturbing the Airbnb guests staying at the house, which shows how considerate and customer-focused they are.
The whole team was friendly, warm, and highly professional. They responded quickly, offered different upgrade options, and tailored the solution to meet the specific needs of the house.

Our 75 year old home had a pump less pit that drained underground and basement moats that were an eye sore and no longer able to handle today's rainfall events. After a year of trying to remedy the water ourselves, we met Jake at our local home show and we knew immediately he could help us. First impressions were knowledge, honesty, no sales tactics and cares about clients. His quote after visiting our home proved the validity of our impressions and the price was unmatchable. The quality of work was outstanding. After completion, Jake called and asked if we were 100 percent happy which we are and we are confident our basement will be forever dry. Jake and team are quite simply some of the best plumbers and flood protection in NS. I have worked with a bunch as a contractor; and Jake is always the one I try to book in for my clients. Now - unless there's a really good reason - I won't bring in a different plumber. For the egos who might get bruised thinking "hey I'm a good plumber... How can Jay say Jake is one of the best..." Truth is - he is. Once I explain what I get from Jake and my expectations on a project - I haven't had anyone meet the bar set by Jake. My clients rave about him. Price is decent - on a scale of 1 - 10 - 10 being the highest and 1 - you will need a pro to come fix what they did - Jake is around a 6-7 on pricing and worth every penny. If you want the project done perfectly, when he says he will do it he does... Book Jake. Trust me the quality and professionalism are worth gold. DM me for a reference or pictures if needed.

Working with Mechanical Flood Protection was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Jake and his team were very professional with excellent communication throughout the process. Jake thoroughly explained the scope of the work to us, made sure we understood how the installed system works, completed the work on time and left the basement tidy and clean. It looks better than when they arrived. The job required heavy work during two of the hottest days of the summer and we appreciate the extra commitment it took Jake and Jared to work in those conditions. They were very well organized, arrived on time, efficient and very easy and pleasant to interact with. Everything we were hoping for with this project. Jake and his crew are hardworking, locally owned and know their stuff. On top of that, they are kind, professional and go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience in a difficult situation. Though we have been managing with a stand up pump, any time it rained or got a bit windy we were worried about power failures and floods. We’ve been talking about upgrading but weren’t sure where to start so we were happy to meet Jake and Jacqui at the Home Show.
